Insane Labz The Surgeon keeps it simple with the classic 2:1:1 BCAA ratio that's been a staple in gym nutrition. Each scoop packs 5g total BCAAs: 2g L-leucine, 1g L-isoleucine, and 1g L-valine. That's it—no fancy recovery add-ons, no electrolytes, no full amino lineup. It's all about those three key aminos, with leucine leading the charge for muscle-building signals.

Leucine is the boss here because it flips the switch on muscle protein synthesis via mTORC1—that's the body's way of starting repairs after a workout. The 2g dose is on the lighter side of what people say you need (around 2-3g based on your size and what else you're eating), so it gives a solid nudge, especially timed with training or protein, but it's not a heavy hitter like a full amino product or protein shake.

L-isoleucine at 1g teams up with leucine without stealing the show. Studies show it helps with muscle building as part of the BCAA crew and might aid glucose use and recovery. You won't feel it right away, but it makes the mix more complete than leucine solo—avoids any imbalances from missing the others.

L-valine at 1g wraps up the team. Valine helps with nitrogen balance and is often discusse

Key Highlights

  • 5,000mg total BCAAs per scoop hits you with the big three aminos that support training and recovery. Leucine, isoleucine, and valine are the branched-chain ones that really shine for workout fuel and bounce-back.
  • 2,000mg L-leucine leads the pack as the key player for kicking off muscle repairs. It sparks mTORC1, which is basically your body's signal to start building after lifts or sessions.
  • 1,000mg L-isoleucine fills in the gaps so leucine isn't flying solo. It adds to the muscle signals and helps with glucose grab and recovery when mixed in a full BCAA blend.
  • 1,000mg L-valine finishes the classic ratio and keeps everything balanced. It's linked to fighting fatigue and maintaining nitrogen levels in a BCAA setup.
  • Sticks to the tried-and-true 2:1:1 ratio that's been around forever in BCAA world. No gimmicky tweaks—just what most gym folks know and trust.
  • 6.5g scoop is small and easy to sip without feeling heavy. Great if you hate a thick drink messing with your stomach during lifts or cardio.
  • No stims means you can use it early mornings, long workouts, or late nights without crashing your sleep or stacking weird with other supps.
  • Handy for fasted sessions when food's not an option. A quick BCAA hit is lighter and faster than chowing down or blending a shake.

Who Is This For?

  • Morning lifters going fasted who need aminos without meal weight. 5g 2:1:1 BCAAs with 2g leucine hit muscle signals while training pre-breakfast.
  • Dieters holding muscle in a deficit with tighter recovery. BCAAs help fight breakdown during tough blocks, and this delivers the key three.
  • Casual builders using whey but wanting light intra for long sets. No stims or extras, so it slots in clean with your stack.
  • Multi-session athletes needing quick hits between without full food. Easier than eating when appetite's down post-training.
  • Fighters or field players wanting muscle aminos around drills sans caffeine. Stim-free fits evenings or doubles perfectly.
  • Folks loyal to classic 2:1:1 over high-leucine hype. Straight 2g leucine, 1g each isoleucine and valine.

How to Use

Mix 1 scoop with 10-16 oz cold water and drink before, during, or after based on your day. Peri-workout is prime—mid-session or right after—if meals aren't lining up. Fasted? Sip during for best timing. If you ate pre, it's still a chill intra option, but shines more for fasted or cutting folks. Shaker beats spoon for mixing, especially cold. No stims, so no tolerance worries or cycling. Stack with whey or full aminos for better muscle support, add creatine for power. Don't use as main protein—BCAAs miss the other essentials. Keep it sealed, cool, and dry for fresh scoops.

What to Expect

First 0-10 minutes: You taste it, feel the hydration, and notice it's easy on the gut—no stim vibes. It's basic aminos, so it's about ease over buzz. 10-30 minutes: No rush or tingle; it's there for training support when food's out. Mid-workout, it's like quiet backup. Days 1-7: You feel the win in steady amino hits around sessions, especially fasted or skipped meals. Weeks 2-4: It's all about those repeat spots—benefits stay tied to when your timing's off, not building up like creatine.

Key Ingredients

  • L-Leucine — Primary BCAA trigger for muscle protein synthesis signaling
  • L-Isoleucine — Completes the BCAA profile for balanced recovery support
  • L-Valine — Rounds out the classic 2:1:1 BCAA training formula

Frequently Asked Questions

How many BCAAs are in Insane Labz The Surgeon per serving?

Each serving provides 5g total BCAAs in a 2:1:1 ratio. Based on verified product research, that breaks down to 2g L-leucine, 1g L-isoleucine, and 1g L-valine per scoop.

Is The Surgeon a full EAA formula or just BCAAs?

It is a BCAA formula, not a full essential amino acid product. That means it gives you leucine, isoleucine, and valine, but not the full spectrum of all nine essential amino acids needed to fully support muscle protein synthesis on their own.

Is 2g leucine enough to build muscle?

2g leucine is meaningful and sits at the low end of the commonly discussed leucine threshold for stimulating muscle protein synthesis. It is more effective when paired with dietary protein, because leucine helps trigger the process but full muscle protein synthesis still requires the other essential amino acids.

When should I take The Surgeon BCAA?

The best use window is before, during, or immediately after training. It makes the most sense for fasted workouts, long sessions, or situations where a full meal or protein shake is not convenient.

Does The Surgeon contain caffeine or stimulants?

No active stimulant ingredients are part of the verified formula. This is a stim-free amino product, which makes it appropriate for evening training or for stacking with a separate pre-workout.

Can I stack this with whey protein?

Yes, and that is actually one of the best ways to use it. Whey provides the full essential amino acid profile, while The Surgeon adds a convenient peri-workout BCAA serving centered on leucine.

Is this better than drinking a protein shake?

Not as a complete muscle-building nutrition source. A protein shake is more complete because it provides all essential amino acids, while this product is best viewed as a lighter, faster peri-workout amino option when a shake is inconvenient.

What makes the 2:1:1 ratio important?

The 2:1:1 ratio prioritizes leucine as the strongest muscle protein synthesis trigger while still supplying isoleucine and valine to complete the BCAA profile. It is the most traditional and widely recognized BCAA structure in sports nutrition.

Are there any ingredients some users may want to avoid?

Yes. The inactive ingredients include sucralose, natural and artificial flavoring, citric acid, sunflower lecithin, and FD&C Red #40. Users who avoid artificial sweeteners or artificial colors should take that into account.

Do I need to cycle The Surgeon?

No stimulant cycling is necessary because this is not a caffeine-based product. You can use it consistently whenever peri-workout amino support fits your nutrition plan, but its value depends on your total daily protein intake and meal timing.

The Success Principles is a must have in any "success" book home library...
Format: Paperback
I read the first version of The Success Principles back in 2009 and I honestly felt like I came across one of the best and most complete resources for success (and really life) I have ever read. I was even more thrilled when I discovered there was The Success Principles for Teens because finding effective ways to teach these life tools and techniques to my daughters has always been a top priority, and challenge. My oldest daughter has not only read it, she has even referred back to some of the principles when I obviously break them :). I had all but forgotten pre-ordering this updated version of The Success Principles until I got the surprise package in the mail today. All of the core content in this version is still there, but what was exciting to read were the new success stories included of people that bought the original book and had breakthroughs. The completely new content included is "Success in the Digital Age" and it is a fantastic resource. I would consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to technology and Internet Marketing (having worked as a Sr. System Engineer for over a decade and years learning and implementing various Internet Marketing solutions), and I can say this addition is fantastic. The content and advice he managed to include in just five chapters is impressive, and spot on. If topics like social media, technology, and online branding are areas that are a weakness, or you want to learn more about the most effective ways to leverage these and other technical solutions used by some of the most successful leaders in this space, than you will love this addition to the book. I will end this review by saying I am life coach, and resources like these are gold. I am constantly referring back to this text before and after sessions. I am a huge fan of countless self-help experts and bestselling authors, and I have a huge list of books I love and regularly recommend, but none are such a complete resource like this book. As one of the "experts" in this space said about this book, trying to just identify the "big ideas" included in this book is virtually impossible, because everything he includes IS a "big idea." So if you are a fan of this type of content this is a must have in your library, if only for a reference.

Success Principles is a handbook you definitely want to carry with you.
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
Many of us are looking for ways to improve our lives, our relationships, and our business. We read books, take training and hire coaches. And these things work. Whether you are new in your quest to self improvement, or a seasoned veteran, the Success Principles is one of the “must read” handbooks you want to read, apply and keep at your side. It contains 67 principles described in a concise, simple to understand entertaining way. Each of these principles by itself is certain to bring positive change in different aspects in your life. As a group they are certain to move your life forward. You will learn how to improve your relationships by listening and asking for feedback. You will learn to focus on those things that truly matter and let go of the good to leave time and resources for the great. You will learn ways to take care of yourself, put yourself in touch with your thoughts and your emotions, and slow your mind down so that you can be creative, concentrate and work more effectively. You will learn ways to communicate with others, to tap into “masterminds”, to ask for what you need, to overcome resistance, obstacles and fears and to move forward. I am a fan of the Success Principles and Jack Canfield's work. Everything contained in this book is taught in his seminars. Powerful yet simple techniques. Buy the book. Read it. And then, every few days concentrate on bringing one of the principles into your life. Sit back and enjoy the results.

Solid Advice & Inspiration for Anyone Looking to Reach their Goals!
Format: Paperback
Overall, I enjoyed reading The Success Principles and found most of the practical advice to be solid and inspirational. I especially liked the discussions about using vision boards, mastermind groups, and other practical techniques. I found many other suggestions to be helpful, but common knowledge (e.g.., setting goals, thinking positive, find a mentor, and the 80/20 principle). My only complaints about this book including being WAY too wordy at 550 pages (should have been half that length!) and the occasional reference to something odd called the Law of Attraction (which is sounds to me like some kind of "new age theory"... I don't buy it). Regardless of those downsides, I still think this book is worth the read for anyone looking for a self-help book that motivates you and gives you practical tools to reach your goals.

The Bible of Self-Improvement
Format: Kindle
First, let's get something out of the way... which version to buy. I ordered my copy on launch day and after dealing with 48 hours of anxiety waiting for it to show up, I couldn't take it any longer and ordered the Kindle version as well. Bottom line... You need them both. One to have right away and always with you, and the book itself to markup, highlight, write in the margins and run through the ringer. Everything in the 2005 release is here, but there's more... so much more. Updated stories from people who have implemented The Success Principles, where they started, and where they are today will keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat. You won't be able to put this book down (but you really have to so you can implement). It is written with the mastery of a thriller novel, yet finessed ever so finely so that you not only learn the principles, but implement them. The new section, "Success in the Digital Age" fills a desperate void. We are overloaded with information, new technology and social media platforms. Most people are guilty of these being replacements for other time-wasting activities but fail to monetize and take advantage of them. Jack clearly lays out how to do it, instead of the digital age controlling you. I've been on pins and needles waiting for the Tenth Anniversary Edition (even though I read the first version 7 times). It is everything you could ask for (and more) in a self-help book. Ordered ten more copies to give as gifts (and so that at least one is always in my office). Congratulations on a job extremely well done. No stone was left unturned.
