Plant Name: Anubias Nangi (Anubias barteri var. nana x Anubias gilletii hybrid)
Care Level: Easy
Recommended Substrate: None required; best attached to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decorations
Recommended Lighting: Low to moderate lighting
Max Plant Size: Up to 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) in height

Fun Fact: Anubias Nangi is a rare hybrid that combines the compact, hardy growth of Anubias nana with the elongated, upright leaf shape of Anubias gilletii, resulting in a uniquely shaped plant that remains manageable in size.
Appearance: Anubias Nangi has slightly elongated, lance-shaped green leaves that grow upright from a thick rhizome. The leaves are smooth and have a semi-glossy surface, providing a graceful look with a more vertical growth habit than standard nana.
Habitat: While it is a cultivated hybrid, its parent species originate from shaded, slow-moving streams and rivers in West and Central Africa.
Aquarium Use: Anubias Nangi is best used in the midground of aquariums, where its upright leaves can add texture and vertical interest. It is ideal for being tied to hardscape such as wood or stone, especially in low-tech planted tanks.
Care: This plant is very beginner-friendly and can thrive in a wide range of conditions. It grows slowly, requires very little maintenance, and does not need to be planted in substrate. Avoid burying the rhizome to prevent rot.
Propagation: Easily propagated by cutting the rhizome into sections, ensuring each has a few healthy leaves and roots.
Note: Like most Anubias species, Anubias Nangi is highly resistant to grazing fish and does well in community tanks. Its attractive shape and easy care make it a great choice for aquarists looking to add something unique without adding maintenance.
