Fun Fact: Anubias Nancon is a cultivated hybrid between Anubias nana and Anubias congensis, combining the compact size of nana with the elongated leaf shape of congensis. This makes it a visually unique and versatile plant for aquascaping.
Appearance: The plant features narrow, slightly elongated green leaves with a smooth texture, growing from a thick, creeping rhizome. Its leaf shape is more slender than traditional nana, giving it a graceful, upright look while still remaining compact.
Habitat: While this is a cultivated hybrid, its parent species originate from shaded, slow-moving freshwater habitats in West and Central Africa.
Aquarium Use: Perfect for midground placement, Anubias Nancon adds variety and contrast when attached to driftwood or stones. Its moderate height and narrow leaf structure make it ideal for tanks where space is limited but visual impact is desired.
Care: Anubias Nancon is extremely hardy and low-maintenance. It does not require planting in substrate and should not have its rhizome buried. It grows slowly and thrives in low-tech setups with minimal fertilization needs.
Propagation: Easily propagated by cutting the rhizome. Each divided piece should have a few leaves and roots to continue growing successfully.
Note: Anubias Nancon is resistant to most herbivorous fish and is rarely affected by algae unless kept under intense lighting. Its unique blend of features from both parent plants makes it a stylish and easy addition to freshwater aquariums.
